We are of the opinion that no chemicals belong in the home garden (recreation area). My garden should be a healthy and safe leisure area for my children. Pressure impregnation (KDI) is not a magic bullet that protects wood from rotting. KDI wood also needs to be painted to protect it from rotting.

KDI washes out over the years. The wood becomes unsightly gray and can no longer be painted brightly and cheerfully.

Only cheap pine wood can be "sufficiently" pressure impregnated. In other types of wood, the impregnation does not penetrate deeply enough to ensure "sufficient" protection. We also cannot reconcile with our conscience that these chemicals get into the ground over the years. For good reason, boiler pressure impregnation is usually carried out abroad.
